A Woman Pours Perfume on Jesus

Once Jesus was in the house of a man named Simon.

Jesus sat down to eat, and while he was eating a woman came to him.
She was carrying a white stone jar full of expensive perfume.
She poured the perfume on "Jesus" head.


The followers of Jesus saw her doing this and became angry with her.
They Said to her,
" Why did you waste all that perfume?
it could have been sold for a lot of money, and the money could have
been given to poor people!"

Jesus knew what his followers were saying , so he said to them,

" You will always have poor people with you,
   but you will not always have me with you.
   so why are you bothering this woman?
  What she has done to me is something beautiful.
  she has poured perfume on me to get ready to be buried, as is our custom.

  So wherever the good news about me is preached,
  people will tell the story of what she did, in memory of her."
